I wish Nintendo did a trade-in or upgrade service, but I guess one could sell their current switch to contribute towards an OLED.
I play my old switch from time to time, as it's now my nephew's, and it really is very noticeably duller, harder to see details and perceptibly smaller.īackground details pop out a lot more (see pure pool) on the OLED and crucially for me, it runs a lot quieter (tho maybe that's just a newer fan) and the battery lasts a lot longer, and the dock has a built in internet port as a bonus. That said, as someone probably jokingly mentioned above, it can make some games look worse - games with a low, blocky resolution and muddy graphics to start with can end up having those faults amplified ( railway tycoon) and some bright retro games can actually hurt your eyes ( castlevania advance collection, picross) on full brightness with 'vivid' mode turned on. I think certain games with certain textures, lighting and colours do transform on the newer screen. Then I got an OLED and played it and yes - it made enough of a difference where I genuineky liked the graphics. Although the movie it’s based on might not be the best Turtles flick of all time, the TMNT GBA game is surprisingly fun and reminiscent of the classic beat ’em ups from the late 80s and early 90s. I bought it when it released and played in my original switch, was not fond of the graphics, at all really.
